Summer PROMISE Program (SEAMS) – Rising 9th Graders

The PROMISE Summer Program also known as Summer Enrichment in Academics in Mathematics and Science (SEAMS) is designed for students between their 8th and 9th grade years. Illinois students currently enrolled in the 8th grade are eligible to apply. This academic residential program runs for the duration of ten days on IMSA’s campus located in Aurora. Students will attend various classes in mathematics, science, English, SAT prep, and more. Additionally, students will experience field trips such as to the Museum of Science and Industry.

How to Apply

The application process is competitive. All eligible applicants must submit a completed online application to be considered for admission. There is no fee to apply.

Application Checklist

Applicants must create a profile to begin the application process, using the students’ personal email addresses, for example, name@gmail.com. Parent email addresses or school email addresses should not be used. Please make sure to remember your username and password, as those will be needed every time you log in to edit, submit, or view your application. The following components must be submitted via the online application by the due date in order to be eligible for consideration:

  • Demographic and School Information
  • One Essays
  • List of STEM Activities and Achievements
  • One Teacher Evaluation Form from a current Math OR Science teacher
  • School Counselor Form
  • Last 1.5 years of Official Grade Reports

Students enrolled in homeschool programs will need to provide additional documentation explaining the curriculum, evaluation process, and texts used. The teacher evaluation must be completed by non-family members who know the student’s work well.

Students invited to participate in the program will be asked to pay a $50 registration fee to confirm their students their attendance. A student will not be turned away by their inability to pay the participation costs. It is important to note that participants are expected to remain for the entire duration of the program.
