IMSA is pleased to announce that Jose Torres, PhD and President, has been appointed to the Global Talent Mentoring Advisory Board for 2020 to 2021.
Global Talent Mentoring fosters excellence in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medical sciences worldwide for exceptionally talented youth through evidence-based, long-term online mentoring. Their vision is to empower future knowledge leaders to solve the world’s most pressing scientific and technological challenges. Global Talent Mentoring is a flagship offering of the World Giftedness Center, a larger educational undertaking owned by the UNESCO-affiliated Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Distinguished Academic Performance based in Dubai, UAE.
“I am pleased to accept this invitation to become a member of the prestigious Global Talent Mentoring Advisory Board,” says Dr. Torres. “As President of the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy, I am honored to contribute to the mission and purpose of the Global Talent Mentoring offering,” he added.
As an advisory board member, Torres will generate ideas and provide critical feedback in such areas as: networking; best practice; encouraging equitable involvement and representation of partner institutions, mentors, and mentees; and sharing recent developments that might be relevant to participants.
“As an accomplished leader in education improvement and advocate of education initiatives, Dr. Torres’ knowledge is highly valued by Global Talent Mentoring, and his qualified perspective would help us achieve our goals more effectively,” says Dr. Heidrun Stoeger, Director of Global Talent Mentoring.
