Aurora, IL – Some of the nation’s top minds in diversity and inclusion will come together to share best practices on how to build a sustainable and strong education to career pipeline for underrepresented groups into science, technology, math and science (STEM) fields at a Think Tank event to be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 from 5:00pm-8:00pm at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy’s (IMSA) IN2 Innovation Center, 1500 Sullivan Road, Aurora, Illinois.
With a growing demand for STEM educated professionals in the career marketplace and stagnant numbers of underrepresented students in the education pipeline, the “Diversifying STEM Think Tank” dinner, panel and round table discussions aim to develop strategies for shifting the demographics of these fields to match the racial and ethnic composition of the US population.
Panelists include Mike Salazar, Chief Process Engineer at Epstein Architecture Engineering and Construction; Dr. Anna Kaatz, Director of Computational Sciences at Center for Women’s Health Research at University of Wisconsin-Madison; Dr. Michael Horn, Assistant Professor at Northwestern University; Dr. Lateefah Stanford, Senior Scientist at BP; and Dr. Terrance R. Mayes, Associate Dean, Graduate Education Director at Stanford’s University School of Medicine.
