The 43rd Annual Meeting & Scientific Sessions of the ISHLT was held on April 19-22, 2023, at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, CO. Over 3,600 people in the ISHLT international community gathered to exchange ideas, reconnect, and collaborate on the latest science. The International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation has over 3,000 members from 50 countries, which is organized into four core therapy/disease-focused practice areas: Advanced Heart Failure and Transplantation, Advanced Lung Failure and Transplantation, Mechanical Circulatory Support, and Pulmonary Vascular Disease (PAH & CTEPH).
Siddarth’s initial research began in 2022 at the University of Chicago with his mentors, Dr. David Onsager, Daniel Rodgers, and Dr. Valluvan Jeevanandam, with a project focused on temperature measurements in donor hearts during procurement. In his senior year, Siddarth worked together with two other IMSA students and researched a project titled, A Retrospective Analysis of 118 Adult Heart Transplant Centers from 2020 to 2022, which was aimed to create a numerical metric that evaluated a
center’s Index of Aggression (IA) and sought to determine the relationship between IA and survival outcomes. Both abstracts can be viewed in the IMSAloquium Collection in Digital Commons.
