Dr. Sheila Wille

History and Social Science Faculty

Bio:

Dr. Sheila Wille is an Instructor in the History and Social Sciences Department. She currently teaches Ancient World Religion and Philosophy, Global Commodities and Culture Contact, World in the Twentieth Century, Research in Global African History, History of the Environment, and History of Biology. When pressed, she cannot say enough about the extraordinary work done by IMSA students.

Dr. Wille earned her Ph.D. in History from the University of Chicago in 2014 and served as the Mellon Fellow in Environmental Humanities at Northwestern University before arriving to teach at IMSA in the Fall of 2017. Her specific fields of study include eighteenth-century British and Imperial history, environmental history, and history of science, especially botany and entomology. She also holds degrees in Historical Archaeology and Anthropology. In another life, she was an electrician for many years in the entertainment industry.
