The National Merit® Scholarship Program recently named 54 semifinalists from IMSA in its 2017 competition. IMSA semifinalists represent 40 different communities throughout Illinois. Approximately 25% of IMSA’s senior class are recognized as semifinalists.
Aurora, IL, September 16, 2016 – The National Merit® Scholarship Program recently named 54 semifinalists from the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy® (IMSA) in its 2017 competition. IMSA semifinalists represent 40 different communities throughout Illinois. Approximately 25 percent of IMSA’s senior class are recognized as semifinalists.
16,000 semifinalists out of the 1.6 million students who competed throughout the nation will now try to advance to the finalist level of the competition by submitting a detailed scholarship application. About 90 percent of the semifinalists will attain finalist standing, and approximately 7,500 of these finalists will receive National Merit Scholarships for undergraduate study totaling $33 million. Merit Scholars will be announced in the spring of 2017.
