Concerning behavior to share may include but are not limited to:
Concerns for Someone
- Dramatic mood changes
- Verbalizes feelings of hopelessness, helplessness, or worthlessness
- Drug or alcohol use
- Social withdrawal
- Student has no close relationships on campus
- Victim of bullying behavior
- Recent loss of a friend or loved one
- Difficulty coping/adapting to stressors
- Acting anxious, agitated, or reckless
- Talking about being a burden to others
Concerns that Someone will Hurt Someone Else
- Talking about wanting to seek revenge on others
- Significant changes in one’s behavior
- Verbalizing plans to bring weapons on campus
- Fascination with weapons, violent events, or people that commit violent acts
- Threatening media posts, gestures, or remarks
- Doodling or drawing violent scenes or themes without a specific reference to someone or some place in their life
- Bullying behavior
- Outbursts of anger, aggressive speech/behavior
- Acting out of character (academically or socially)
