The Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy® invites you to join in shaping and implementing the next generation of innovative and engaging learning experiences.  IMSA is actively seeking applications for the full-time leadership position of Director of Operations for Professional Field Services which reports to the Executive Director of Professional Field Services.  This individual will assist in the design, development, implementation, direction and evaluation of the non-residential program operations and systems of IMSA. The Director of Operations will research, recommend and implement practices and policies that improve efficiency and the delivery of local and remote academic programming.  This position is a part of the Professional Field Services leadership team that will guide the statewide expansion of all IMSA non-residential programs.

The internationally recognized Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy® (IMSA) develops creative, ethical leaders in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.  As a teaching and learning laboratory created by the State of Illinois, IMSA enrolls academically talented Illinois students (grades 10-12) in its advanced, residential college preparatory program. It also serves thousands of educators and students in Illinois and beyond through innovative instructional programs that foster imagination and inquiry. (www.imsa.edu)


Major Duties and Responsibilities:

The Director of Operations of Professional Field Services will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Consult with Professional Field Service program leaders in the preparation of individual program business plans and processes.
  • Integration of program work plans to optimize teamwork, efficiency and outcomes
  • Budget and manage the budget for Professional Field Service common areas and new Field Offices
  • Assist in the preparation and consolidate all program area budgets and track project budgets
  • Assist the Professional Field Service teams and IMSA Fund Development team with seeking and securing grant funding for programs
  • Develop and maintain the Professional Field Services business processes, systems and data requirements, coordinate with ITS Staff and/or vendors and oversee the execution of implementations.
  • Lead the creation and dissemination of common Professional Field Services marketing materials and campaigns
  • Manage the Professional Field Services web content and handle web updates and integration among programs
  • Manage emergent projects and special projects as they arise, including the delivering and/or coordinating of consulting services
  • Support partnership identification and development
  • Serve as representative for Professional Field Services on IMSA cross departmental teams, such as IMSA’s Operations Management and Facilities Teams
  • Contribute to the overall success of the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy’s strategic plan
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Required Skills and Experience:

The required skills and experience for this position include:

  • An earned Master’s Degree and five (5) years of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Exceptional organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Extensive knowledge of IMSA’s Professional Field Services (PFS) and ability to utilize IMSA’s business, facilities and ITS operations in support of program
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with a variety of individuals and diverse populations
  • Proven leadership experience in business and strategic planning, technology-facilitated learning, production methods, marketing and coordination of people and resources.
  • Excellent information/computer skills including systems requirements definition and data analysis, spreadsheet, database, word processing, presentation and online learning
  • Exceptional organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills                  
  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to rapidly make connections and acquire new knowledge and skills
  • Occasional irregular hours and travel required

Salary and Benefits:

The position of Director of Operations for Professional Field Services is a full-time employment-at-will position.  Salary and benefits are commensurate with training and experience expected at this level of employment.  As part of the State University Retirement System, the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy offers an excellent comprehensive benefits package including health and retirement benefits.  The State Universities Retirement System (SURS) is reciprocal with other Illinois public retirement systems such as the Teachers’ Retirement System of Illinois (TRS) and the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF).
